Actually, Easter coincidentally originally fell on the Spring Equinox, when pagans celebrated the return of spring and the fertility of the coming year's crops. The name itself, "Easter", is believed to have originated from Eostre, the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. I guess we tend to mix things up over the centuries...I'll spare you all the usual ranting about misconstrued history and instead give you a bit of humour from Australia.
